This tour turned out to be a lot more than what one of our guests expected as she received this wonderful surprise!

Try our authentic southwestern cookout or the unique Native American Feast inspired by recipes handed down from the Pima, Tohono O'odham, Apache, and Navaho Tribes of Arizona. For groups of 20 or more.

Sonoran Desert

The Sonoran Desert takes up over 100,000 square miles and covers parts of two states and two countries: the southern parts of Arizona and California in the United States and large parts of the states of Sonora, Baja California Norte and Baja California Sur in Mexico.

You’ve probably read that the Sonoran Desert is one of the most wildly diverse deserts in the world, but it is also one of the most ecologically balanced deserts in the world.

Jeep Tours

Before there were desert tour there was only desert. As family would come to town the interest was to go out to the desert. That’s how Arizona Desert Mountain Jeep Tours was born. Our first vehicle was a CJ7 jeep and from there we grow to be the largest company in Arizona. Now are company not only offers jeep tours we specialize in outdoor adventures of all types!

Wildlife

If conditions are favorable our trail takes you into areas where you can see desert tortoises, diamondback rattlers, javelina, greyfox, mule deer, and even badgers. In an effort to educate the public, upon special request, our guides will bring along a rattlesnake, king snake, scorpion, or even a tarantula. Our purpose is to alleviate any of the learned fears that people have about reptiles and arachnids. The wanton eradication of desert creatures such as rattlesnakes must be stopped. Our goal is an attempt to eliminate the fear of native species so they may continue to flourish in their environment.

Living Desert Ecotour

Come relax and enjoy the spectacular beauty of the Great Sonoran Desert, the lushest desert in the world. Four wheel through remote, pristine areas where the beauty and serenity of the desert come alive. Let our naturalist guide introduce you to the wonders of the desert flora and fauna, as well as give you a genuine appreciation of the delicate balance of life in the Sonoran ecosystem. Imagine hiking up a secluded canyon where you will find a natural spring flowing from the side of the mountain. Or consider descending into one of the few riparian areas in the state to experience the awesome beauty of the Verde River, where you may see the Bald eagles reintroduced several years ago in their natural habitat.

Mesquite Trees

Mesquite tree develops one or more trunks covered with dark brown bark. Its short branches are equipped with sharp thorns that can reach 3 inches in length.

Mesquite tree develops 75 to 160 feet long taproot designed for the extraction of water hidden deep under the surface of the ground.

Mesquite tree develops bipinnate, feathery leaves that are usually composed of 9 pairs of oblong leaflets. Leaves can be bluish green or olive green in color.

Mesquite tree produces creamy white or yellowish flowers arranged in the form of catkins. Flowers contain both types of reproductive organs (perfect flowers).
Mesquite tree blooms during the spring and summer. Flowers are rich source of nectar which attracts bees, that are responsible for the pollination of this plant.

Anna's Hummingbird

Anna's hummingbirds live in a wide variety of habitats, including open woods, grasslands, forests and deserts. In recent years they have been found more often in backyard gardens where hummingbird feeders and exotic plantings provide them with food throughout the year.

They are found from California east to far western Texas, north to southern British Columbia. They are a common year-round resident in lower elevations of southern and central Arizona.

Bobcat

The bobcat (Lynx rufus) can be identified most easily by its short bob-tail which is 2 to 8 inches long. The tail has black fur on the top and is white on the underside. It has a wide flat face with longer fur on the cheek area. It has long legs and big paws. Its color ranges from an orange-ish brown to pale gray with black spots and bars on it legs and chest and less noticeable spots throughout its body.

The bobcat can be found throughout the Sonoran Desert. It prefers rocky areas with plenty of plant cover, but can be found in mountain forests, riparian canyons, brushland, and in populated suburban areas.
